About the role

the role of Senior Coastal Management Officer is responsible for the environmental protection and management of the Central Coast’s coastal environments, including beaches, dunes, coastlines, coastal lakes and lagoons, and delivery of associated actions in Coastal Zone Management Plans and Coastal Management Programs.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key activities of this role include: 

  • Lead the strategic management of the Central Coast’s coastal environments ensuring their protection and enhancement.
  • Develop and implement policies, strategies, and management plans to address coastal challenges.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with government agencies, stakeholders, and the community.
  • Provide expert advice and mentorship to the Coastal Management team, promoting sustainable practises.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Hold a degree in Environmental and/or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are desirable.
  • Demonstrate extensive experience in managing coastal environments and implementing relevant management plans.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Show strong project management capabilities, including budget oversight and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proactive individual who can work independently, make informed decisions, and champion sustainable practises to enhance the resilience of our coastal environments.

Other important information

  • The commencing salary for this position is up to ($102,804.44). Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of ($123,581.19) on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation 
  • We have a permanent full-time role available 
  • This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight
  • We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role - 2 days from home and 3 days onsite
  • This role is located at the Wyong Administration Building
