Water Education Officer

About the role

As the Water Education Officer, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of effective water, wastewater and resilience education programs to improve the standard of living and quality of life for the Central Coast. 

You will promote environmental sustainability principles and practices, raise awareness of Council's water supply system and increase community participation in current and future water projects. 

As a subject matter expert, you will build credible and lasting relationships with stakeholders, providing professional environmental management and education advice to influence outcomes for the better. 

The position of Water Education Officer is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • a degree qualification in Environmental Science, Education, Communications or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in community education and or communication, combined with ongoing professional development
  • a current Class C Drivers Licence
  • a current Working with Children's Check 
  • experience in the development and implementation of lifelong learning and water education plans and programs, and knowledge of community and education principles and practices 
  • experience in engaging and consulting with a range of stakeholders including educational institutions, community groups and government agencies 
  • demonstrated knowledge of behaviour change and communication practices, including active communication with the community and business sectors
  • the ability to build strong, credible relationships with the ability to negotiate outcomes that are of benefit or add value, to all or part of the organisation.

Other important information

  • The commencing salary for this position is up to $100.k per year. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $116.5k on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation  
  • We have a permanent full-time role available
  • This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight
  • We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role - 2 days from home and 3 days onsite
  • This role is located at the Wyong Administration Building.
