  • Commencing salary: $68.2k to $81.9k per annum per week + superannuation

The Banking Officer plays a crucial role in our Finance Unit by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. This position is vital to maintaining the integrity of our financial records and enhancing our cash management processes.

As a Banking Officer, you will be responsible for receipting Council funds, liaising with various stakeholders, and conducting bank reconciliations. Your role will directly influence our financial operations and contribute to our overall mission to serve the community effectively.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in finance and customer service, with a commitment to teamwork and excellence.

  • Certificate IV in Business Administration or substantial relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role within a medium to large organisation.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and cash management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.

You will also need to have excellent communication skills, the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Your contributions will help foster a positive working environment and support the financial objectives of the Council.

Key activities of this role include: 

  • Contribute to the day to day operations of the Accounts Receivable team by carrying out duties such as, but not limited to, receipting of Council funds, liaise with external stakeholders to identify and receipt to the various systems within council, reconcile bank statements to system transactions and investigate anomalies
  • Assist with investing surplus finds held by Council in accordance with Council and Local Government guidelines
  • Understands Council’s revenue and payable systems in relation to Cash Management systems
  • Contribute to the maintenance, reconciliation, processing and reporting of all aspects of financial accounting records ensuring integrity and accuracy of information
