  • Commencing salary: $1,534 to $1,778 per week + superannuation

The role of Return to Work and Wellbeing Officer is responsible for assisting with the implementation and maintenance of health and wellbeing strategies and programs to ensure the health and wellbeing for all staff and aid in the reduction of productivity loss through illness and accident/injury.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key activities of this role include: 

  • Monitor, measure and report on health and wellbeing programs and achievements within agreed formats and timeframes and ensure information is correctly recorded
  • Assist in ensuring all new employees have been assessed as fit to carry out all duties associated with their position
  • Assist in the co-ordination of the injury management process for occupationally ill and/or injured employees
  • Promote employee health and wellbeing and provision of information on recognised public health issues
  • Assist with the provision of a quality occupational health service to the organisation through review of existing and new policies and programs designed and informed by best practice to ensure the best health, safety, and welfare of employees, e.g., monitoring health of employees exposed to specific hazards
  • Promote all health & wellbeing initiatives and programs and maintain Health & Wellbeing page on Council’s intranet
  • Provide professional expertise, guidance, support, and solutions on health & wellbeing related matters
  • Assist in the co-ordination and monitoring of the health of those employees engaged in high-risk tasks

Essential Criteria:

  • Certificate IV qualification in Work Health and Safety or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in Health and Wellbeing role combined with ongoing professional development
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate HLTAID003
  • Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate HLTAID001 or willingness to obtain
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated previous experience in a related discipline or experience in a WHS/HR/P&C environment
  • Knowledge in the development and management of injury management programs, processes and practices
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of first aid equipment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Workers Compensation legislation
  • Demonstrated experience in written and oral communication skills and ability to effectively communicate at all levels
