About the role

The Casual Library Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service and managing library operations effectively. This role is crucial in ensuring the library meets the business, educational, informational, and recreational needs of the Central Coast community.

Successful applicants will be employed on a casual day-to-day basis and could be working at any of our Library Branches or Outreach Services across the Coast, rostered between Monday to Sunday, primarily between the hours of 8.00am and 9.00pm. Our Casuals have a great opportunity to connect with all of our teams from Umina Beach to Lake Haven, and enjoy variety in their tasks, customers, and days and times worked.

The successful candidate will engage with patrons, assist with library resources, and contribute to the overall success of the library services offered.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Diploma of Library and Information Services, or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role combined with ongoing professional development
  • Current Working with Children Check

Other important information

  • The hourly rate for this position is $37.3740 + 25% Casual Loading. This role also offers penalty rates for any weekend work + 12% superannuation.
  • We have Casual positions available working 35 hours per week on a rotating roster Monday to Sunday. 
  • This role has the opportunity to work across all Central Coast Council Library Branches and Outreach Services. 

Council may create an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
