The Mechanic (light) plays a key role in ensuring our plant and fleet service is maintained and repairs are completed in accordance with our procedures. In addition, undertaking duties such as registration checks and ensuring records management is maintained using the electronic Fleet Management System. This role is also responsible for providing coaching and support to apprentices to ensure they learn and apply new skills in the workshop.
This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.
Key activities of this role include:
- Ensuring fleet vehicles and equipment meet RMS and SafeWork regulations.
- Contributing to ensuring the workshop meets and exceeds the WHS and environmental management principles within the workshop.
- Providing mechanical services that provide cost effective and value to Plant and Fleet assets.

Essential Criteria:
- Certificate III qualification in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or related field, combined with ongoing professional development
- Current NSW Fair Trading Tradesperson Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Current RMS Vehicle Examiners Certificate - Light (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Construction General Induction Card
- Current Forklift Licence (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- Current Class MR Licence (or willingness to obtain within specified period)
Successful candidates will be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
Council may create an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
Other important information
- The salary range for this position ranges between $63.6k - $76.3k plus 11.5% superannuation + Level 1 Adverse working conditions allowance of $18.92 per week.

- This role is located at the Charmhaven Depot.
- Successful candidates may be required to have vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus.
