First or Second Year Apprenticeship opportunity to join our Fitter Machinery team.

Central Coast Council is excited to offer an apprenticeship opportunity to a motivated person who has a keen interest in gaining hands on work experience and technical training in the Fitter and Machinist trade. The objective of our program is for you to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to complete the program, with a view to establishing a career as a Fitter Machinist.

• Role includes working on pumps and other process equipment at the Erina Depot and treatment plants located across the Local Government Area.

About the Program

You will commence as a first or second year apprentice and will be trained under the instruction of a suitably qualified supervisor. As your experience grows, you may be required to rotate between job locations to further extend your experience across a broad range of work experience for the duration of the program. Council offers an excellent development program with exposure to many elements of the job throughout the course.

The Central Coast Council Apprenticeship program requires successful applicants to enter a training contract for four (4) years commencing in January 2025.

You will be provided with individual training plans and are required to undertake and complete a trade qualification at either a NSW TAFE campus or through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). 

• Minimum education requirement - Year 10 School Certificate or Record of School Achievement (RoSA) or equivalent leaving certificate. Please note: Current Year 10 students are eligible to apply and if successful in selection it will be based on the provision that they complete the Year 10 RoSA and provide documentation prior to commencement in position.
• A General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or equivalent OR are willing to obtain this card.
• A current Class C or Provisional P1 or P2 Driver's Licence or similar or are willing to obtain at the legal age to acquire licence.
• A keen interest in developing your skills in the Fitter and Machinist trade.
• Gained practical experience and/or have knowledge or be undertaking additional relevant learning in the area.
• A passion for the importance of being a team player in a highly team focused organisation.
• A commitment in completing the required studies.
• A willingness to learn from others to further your career.
• Strong customer service skills with an ability to provide the best quality service to the Central Coast

About the Role

• Work with relevant tools, plant and equipment to complete work tasks relevant to the position.
• Learn to read and interpret technical information, use power tools to install pump and mechanical components with water and sewer assets.
• Varied tasks and projects with opportunity to work in both a workshop environment and onsite at water treatment plants, dams and other Council assets across the Central Coast.
• Learn from a terrific team of mentors who will willingly support you throughout your learning journey.
• Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve work tasks.

Other important information

• The salary range for these positions sit between $479.94 to $823.08 per week ($25,024 to $42,915 per annum) dependent on age and school qualifications + 11.5% Superannuation 
• Temporary Full-Time role
• This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight
• The role is primarily located in Erina
• The successful candidate may be required to have vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus.
