Central Coast Council deals with more than 3,000 development applications per year, with a construction value of more than $1 billion, in addition to associated civil engineering approvals, supporting infrastructure and principal certifying authority functions. In the past few years there has been an ongoing uplift in development activity across the board, which is expected to continue as the regional economy continues to grow.

Senior Development Planner is responsible for achieving environmentally and socially responsible sustainable developments for the community through providing professional and technical advice into planning, development, property and land use matters to Council, staff, community and other relevant authorities.

As a Senior Development Planner you will also mentor other planners, provide support and guidance and work on complex projects with Development Planners. 

Council will also be creating an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other Senior Development Planner vacancies.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Ability to assess development applications at a high level with professional and technical advice into planning, development and land use matters to Planning Panels, staff, community and other relevant authorities; 
  • Assessing the impact of development proposals in relation to development issues and determine appropriate development requirements to ensure orderly development;
  • Assessing, coordinating and managing complex development matters and special projects ensuring appropriate consultation and outcomes are achieved

Desirable:

  • Experience in court matters;
  • Experience in preparation of reports and assessment of Planning Panel matters.

This role provides a commencing salary range of between $99k to $119k per annum + 11.5% Superannuation and Leaseback Vehicle. 

A leaseback vehicle is provided in this role for official duties and private use and your choice of vehicle will be provided when one becomes available in accordance with Council’s Vehicle Policy. In the meantime, either an alternate pre-used vehicle or a vehicle allowance of $200.00 per week is temporarily applied for this position due to ongoing issues with supply for new vehicles.

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role, with flexible/hybrid working arrangements available.

Successful candidates may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
