Relief Library Assistant

About the role

This part-time relief position works across all Central Coast Council library branches from Umina Beach to Lake Haven, and in our Outreach services, building connections with all of Council’s library teams and interacting with customers of all ages.

The role is diverse and fun, engaging in any aspect of library work including customer service, circulation, program delivery and technology related requests. If you have a passion for libraries, and providing an exceptional customer experience is your thing, this is a great opportunity to join our team.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • With a minimum qualification of the HSC (or equivalent), you are experienced in customer service, ideally from a similar environment, with demonstrated knowledge of Library and Information Services
  • If you are over 18 you have a current Working with Children Check 
  • Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills to ensure that you can establish rapport with a range of staff and customers and deal with complex customers with ease.
  • You are a positive, flexible and adaptable team player, who enjoys variety in their day to day tasks
  • You are tech savvy, with the ability to complete financial transactions, assist library customers with computers and other devices, and provide support on a range of contemporary library technologies

Other important information

  • The salary range for this position commences at $30.26 - $36.32 per hour plus 11% superannuation
  • This is a Permanent part-time role at 21 hours per week 
  • This role is required to work across Central Coast Council's ten libraries, plus our Outreach centres

Council will be creating an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
