  • Commencing salary range between $1334.20 to $1600.20 per week ($69.5K to $83.4K per annum) + superannuation

The Assistant Planner is responsible for undertaking research and providing support to staff within the Development Advisory Services section. 

In this role you will use your problem solving, analytical and research skills to provide advise and assistance on development and land use matters. This will be done through assisting with development application assessments and providing information for pre development meeting sessions, all the while providing excellent customer service and technical information to internal and external stakeholders.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key activities of this role include: 

  • Undertake preliminary assessments for Development Applications and Development Advisory Services Meetings
  • Undertake research and provide support associated with the Development Assessment, Development Advisory Services
  • Provide technical advice into planning, development and land use matters to Council, staff, community and other relevant authorities.

Essential Criteria:

  • Certificate IV in Local Government Planning and / or a genuine motivation in pursuing a career in Town Planning and a willingness to undertake tertiary studies in Urban and Regional Planning
  • A solid foundation of administrative and customer service experience providing support to internal and external customers
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong customer service ethos
  • Advanced digital literacy
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, credible relationships and work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated solid contemporary experience in in a similar role, combined with ongoing professional development

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role with flexible/hybrid working arrangements available.
