Council is excited to offer Traineeship opportunities for motivated people who have an interest in gaining “hands on” work experience and technical training as a Child Care Educator. The objective of our program is to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to complete the Traineeship, with a view to establishing a career in Early Childhood Education and Care.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The Traineeship program requires the successful applicants to enter a Training Contract for up to 18 months.

As part of their individual Training Plans Trainees are required to undertake and complete a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care through the Registered Training Organisation (RTO). 

During your Traineeship you will have the opportunity to gain theoretical and practical experience whilst working at a Child Care Centre.  A wide range of stimulating in-services are offered and trainees are provided with the opportunity to network with staff from other Council Centres.

Successful candidates will need to be available for rostered shifts between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. 

We have positions available in multiple locations across the Central Coast.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Minimum education requirement - Year 10 School Certificate or RoSA (Record of School Achievement) or equivalent leaving certificate. 

Applicants must meet screening requirements for existing qualifications which determine eligibility for a traineeship.

Please Note – Employment beyond the term of the Traineeship is neither automatically offered nor guaranteed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful Trainees' primary responsibility in the position is to obtain the knowledge, skills and competence through tertiary qualifications and on-the-job training.  

What a 'day in the job' could look like:

  • To assist in the delivery of quality education and care functions in accordance with National Quality Framework requirements and CCC’s policies and procedures;
  • To obtain knowledge, skills and competence through tertiary qualifications and on the job training;
  • Be willing to develop and implement new skills and seek opportunities to gain feedback on behaviour and work whilst remaining open to the input of others.

  • You are committed to undertaking and completing the required studies;

  • If you are over 18 you will need a current Working with Children Check (or be willing to obtain prior to any offer of employment);
  • You will be prepared to complete the required study at home in your own time, as well as on the job;
  • Willingness and ability to work a variety of shifts between a spread of hours from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA INCLUDES:      

  1. Minimum education requirement - Year 10 School Certificate or RoSA (Record of School Achievement) or equivalent leaving certificate. 
  2. Demonstrated interest and/or experience in Early Childhood Education and Care;
  3. Be an Australian Citizen or granted permanent residency status;
  4. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.

Applicants will be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B, Tetanus (Boostrix), MMR and Varicella or demonstrate their immunity.

SALARY:

A commencing salary range of $679.44 to $794.96 per week ($35,426 to $41,449 per annum) plus 11% Superannuation will apply, dependent upon age and school qualifications.

Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to attend a panel interview which will be conducted during a week day. Applicants successful at progressing to interview may be asked to undertake a second assessment at time of interview to verify results.
