Electrician - Water and Sewer

You will be working across the Central Coast LGA and using your technical electrical knowledge and skills be responsible for both preventative and unplanned electrical operation and maintenance activities associated with water and sewer infrastructure.

As our ideal candidate you will be an experienced electrical tradesperson who takes responsibility for your work to ensure the ongoing operation and maintenance of key infrastructure resources. You will use your well-developed skills and experience with a range of equipment such as pumping stations, high-voltage substations, treatment plants, field lighting, amenity buildings and other low-voltage electrical works.

The successful candidate may be required to work shifts between the span of hours 6.00am to 6.00pm and participate in an on-call roster as required.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Council will also be creating an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent full time Electrician vacancies.

Key activities of this role include

  • Undertake electrical operation and maintenance of Council's water and sewer assets across network and treatment plant infrastructure
  • Investigate faults and solve complex electrical issues within pumping stations, treatment plants, high voltage substations, switchboards and hazardous areas
  • Follow relevant standards, codes of practice, work health and safety and environmental requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Electrical trade certificate, including your current NSW Electricians licence
  • Current NSW Supervisors certificate - Electrician
  • Completion of High Voltage Safe Working Practices Course OR willingness to obtain
  • Valid WHS Construction Induction card NSW WorkCover or equivalent, OR willingness to obtain
  • Current Class C driver’s licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate OR willingness to obtain
  • Dogging Licence OR willingness to obtain
  • Confined Spaces Legislation Certificate OR willingness and ability to obtain.

Other key experience

  • Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of water and sewage infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience in trouble shooting, repair, maintenance and installation of industrial electrical equipment including interpreting electrical schematic diagrams for motor starters PLCs, etc
  • Demonstrated experience in workshop based electrical repair work
  • Demonstrated experience in High Voltage and Low Voltage operation and maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience in basic PLC and/or SCADA operation.

This role provides a salary range of between $56.3k to $81.9k per annum dependent on skills and experience + superannuation and applicable allowances as per the Local Government (Electricians) (State) Award. 

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role.

Successful candidates will be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
