The Relief Library Technician is responsible for providing effective and efficient library services at Council's branch libraries to meet educational, informational, and recreational needs of the community.  The role provides high quality customer service to library users and effective completion of administrative functions associated with the position.

Shifts may be rostered from Monday to Saturday between 8:30am and 5:00pm, on a 6 day rotating roster working 140 hours over a 4 week period.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Assisting patrons in the use of the catalogue, self check kiosks, printers and other library systems and resources;
  • Preparing and delivering children's programs which support learning in a fun and relaxed environment;
  • Providing effective reader assistance through reference interviews and selecting appropriate resources for library customers
  • Preparing effective promotional material and visual displays to require standards, promoting library resources and services to the community.

About you: 

  • You have a Diploma of Library and Information Services, or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role combined with ongoing professional development;
  • You have knowledge of Library and Information Services or Customer Service concepts and principles;
  • You have the ability to build effective relationships with staff and stakeholders including the ability to effectively resolve conflicts;
  • You enjoy sharing your knowledge and expertise, while also learning from others;
  • Having a work/life balance is important to you.

This role provides a commencing salary range of between $61,517k to $73,817k per annum dependent on skills and experience + 11% superannuation. Penalty rates apply for weekend work.
