Systems Controller (Water and Sewer Operations)

Primary Work Location: North Wyong NSW 

  • Contribute to the operation of your local community’s Water and Sewer system;
  • This is an exciting opportunity to utilise your knowledge of Water and Sewer networks in our Water Operations Centre.
  • Permanent full time position - 24/7 shift work roster with 12 hour shifts to promote work life balance.
  • Commencing salary range between $79,346 to $110,241 per annum (inclusive of market loading for the right candidate) + shift penalties as per the Award + 10.5% superannuation.

As Systems Controller based at our modern and well appointed Water Operations Centre, you will be responsible for monitoring system availability, configuration and performance of the Water and Sewer systems in real time, proactively controlling system operations to optimise system operation and minimise the impact of system failures. In addition you will be responsible for prioritising and triaging work orders for the dispatch of work crews, and providing technical expertise and advice to field staff as required.

We are after someone who has extensive experience in water/sewer operations or a relevant engineering background, and can work in pressure situations being able to make the right decision.

What your day as a Systems Controller could look like:

  • Proactively controlling systems operations using SCADA;
  • Responding to and providing remote support for incidents that occur in the Water and Sewer network;
  • Investigating opportunities to optimise system operation;
  • Identifying irregularities or inefficiencies in system operation and initiating further investigation and rectification works.

About You:

  • You have extensive experience in water/sewer operations or a relevant engineering background;
  • In pressure situations you can apply your knowledge to make the right decision;
  • You have highly developed organisational skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities;
  • You enjoy sharing your knowledge and expertise, while also learning from others.

* As this position involves shift work, it is anticipated that the actual salary could be up to 20% in addition to the base salary quoted, dependent on shifts worked (excluding any overtime). 

An additional week of Annual Leave is offered each year due to the shift work. 

Successful candidates may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
